Markstein is pleased to announce two new additions to its leadership team: Time, Inc. veteran and former group president Greg Schumann joins as vice president and former Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Director of Integrated Marketing Jessica Lumsden Black joins as director.
Schumann brings more than 20 years of executive experience in publishing, brand marketing, media and sales to Markstein. He will serve as vice president focused on strategic initiatives for the agency and its clients. Black brings more than a decade of experience in sports and tourism marketing to Markstein. She will lead new and existing client relationships in her role as director.
“The addition of Greg and Jessica will be transformational for our agency as we continue to focus on future growth opportunities,” said Danny Markstein, founder and chairman. “Each brings a diverse background of experience and has a track record of success working with major organizations. We’re extremely excited to bring Greg and Jessica on board.”
Schumann most recently was group president of Time, Inc. Sales & Marketing, where he led seven industry-focused advertising units that delivered accelerated digital revenue growth. Prior to his corporate sales role, Schumann oversaw the Southern Living, Coastal Living and Sunset brands, with each delivering revenue and profit growth during his tenure, highlighted by Southern Living’s record-setting revenue performance surrounding the brand’s 50th anniversary.
“I am thrilled to join the talented, ambitious professionals at Markstein,” said Schumann. “My excitement to serve as a member of this progressive agency’s leadership team is driven by a desire to significantly impact the strategic evolution of this fast-growing company while promoting activities that influence long-term success for its clients.”
Black previously was director of integrated marketing for Peach Bowl, Inc. During her seven-year tenure, she served as the brand manager for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge and The Dodd Trophy. Before joining the Peach Bowl, Inc. team, Black served as assistant director of communications and marketing for James Madison University. Prior to that position, she was a PR specialist at the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, supporting Atlanta’s $15 billion hospitality industry and nearly 51 million visitors each year.
“From the first time I met with the team at Markstein, I was blown away by their work, the depth of their talent, their focus on strategy, and – most importantly – their commitment to creating an exceptional experience for both their clients and their team,” said Black. “I am excited to bring my communications, marketing, sports and hospitality industry knowledge to Markstein, and to a growing Birmingham market.”
