Markstein Executive Creative Director Chris Hoke recently spoke with WBMA ABC 33/40 on the best and worst ads of Super Bowl LIII.
In an interview with Nicole Allshouse on Talk of Alabama, Hoke shared his insights on what makes a Super Bowl commercial successful, which he believes is “find[ing] the sweet spot of timeless and trendy.” This year’s ads leveraged influencers — celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Steve Carrell and Kristin Chenoweth, as well as the hit TV show, “Game of Thrones” — more than they have in recent years.
